Q. What is automatic color correction mode?
A. Automatic colour correction is a default mode that selects the best colour correction based on the contents of the page you want to print. Auto mode is object, rather than page, oriented. It recognises object types such as graphics, images, or text and looks for how colour was specified for that object. Then the printer applies the most appropriate colour correction technique for that object.
Q. What is automatic toner density calibration?
A. The C912 has the ability to lay down a patch of toner and measure whether the amount laid down is actually the proper amount (density) of toner. Getting the proper density of toner is important for accurate and consistent colour output. Media, environment, or cartridge lives are just a few of the conditions that can alter the amount of toner laid down on the page. Automatic toner density calibration measures and compensates for these factors to deliver reliable colour every time.
Q. What is the monochrome lock mode?
A. This feature allows authorised IT personnel to turn the C912 into a black and white only printer for a specified period of time, specific job, or specific group of users. When the printer is in this mode all documents, no matter their origin, will print in black and white. This feature gives Lexmark customers an added degree of control over colour in their business.
Q. How does the C912 achieve such a fast colour speed rating?
A. The C912 uses a special design called Tandem Print Architecture. Other names commonly used to describe this design are "In-Line" and "Single-pass". This design arranges all of the colours in a line and lays all four colours down on the page in a single pass underneath the print cartridges. This allows colour speed to equal mono speed in the C912.
Q. What is 2400 Image Quality
A. 2400 Image Quality is the default print quality on the C912 and also the highest quality that the printer is capable of producing. This high level of quality runs at full rated speed of up to 29 ppm. 2400 Image Quality is the name of Lexmark's proprietary colour screening technique which produces 2400x600 dpi addressability. This level of quality looks like 2400 dpi and the results are achieved without purchasing extra memory or performance limitations.
Q. What is Dynamic LED technology? Is it a special kind of laser printer?
A. The C912 is not a laser printer. C912 uses LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) to develop toner in the electrophotographic process. C912 has taken LED technology a step further with a new Dynamic LED technology. These Dynamic LED's are characterised for power consumption on each LED. There are over 8000 LED's in every C912. This allows an unprecedented improvement in LED colour quality, which is indistinguishable from colour laser printers.
